Are you having any symptoms like mood swings and aren’t sure why?  One minute you feel happy and the next, you could sit and cry?

Could it be perimenopause – that time leading up to menopause?   Either one can be  pretty scary when it sneaks up on you.  Especially if you haven’t read any updated information about it or prepared yourself for it.  Having mood swings is only one of the signs of menopause.

Are You Familiar With Signs Of Menopause?

Why will you have symptoms?

  • If you are/were a smoker, you will probably have some symptoms.
  • If you never exercised, you will probably have symptoms.
  • If you eat/ate junk food, fast foods/processed foods most of your life, then you will probably have symptoms.

Menopausal symptoms will vary from person to person in severity and how long they last.  I think the severity of your symptoms is related to how well you have taken care of yourself leading up to this point in your life.  Not all women do have symptoms!  I know some who did not have any symptoms and sailed right through menopause.

Your body is trying to tell you that your hormone levels are fluctuating – some hormones have increased or decreased and your body is trying to balance the hormone levels that you now have.

Did you know good nutrition plays a huge role in your moods?  What if, before you decide to “go on something” or “try to fix your mood swing symptom,”  you first try making some changes to your diet?

If you will keep a journal for a few weeks, it will help you see what works for you and what does not.  Write down everything you eat.

What foods will make a difference in your mood swings?

These foods and herbs are good for mood swings:

  • salmon
  • tuna
  • potatoes
  • spinach
  • brown rice
  • celery seeds
  • parsley
  • dandelion
  • juniper berries
  • asparagus
  • artichokes
  • melon
  • watercress

It is very important to drink plenty of water.  Limit your caffeine and try to use herbal teas instead.  Alcohol can also affect your moods.  Good to familiarize yourself with menopause and what the signs of menopause are.  Mood swings is just one of them you may experience.
