Funny thing about going through menopause: statistics show that women do so much better in their lives by staying connected to other people.  Whether it is with their partner/husband of years or friends and family, it doesn’t matter.  We all need to feel connected to other people. Even pets help us stay connected. If you are in menopause or have gone through, and are still in a relationship with a partner/husband after all these years, what is the best way for you to approach the rest of your life? The “experts” say that after some men retire, they tend to withdrawl, ... (Read More ...)

Have you ever noticed that there are people who walk around daily, filled with anger and pain?  It seems those people are always ready to unload on someone, maybe whoever happens to get in their way. There will always be someone who wants to steal our joy and our inner peace. We can develop the mindset that we can only change ourselves. Life is too short to give our power and inner peace away to others.  At times it may not seem like a choice, but it is. After watching the events that took place about two days ago, Miracle on the Hudson, I could not help wondering about those people who were on that plane. If we are fortunate enough to learn we only have the present moment, (the past is... (Read More ...)

In this economy, stress is already at an all time high. People are just trying to deal with the usual daily ups and downs and now what?  People we know losing jobs, or not being able to find one, life savings disappearing, losing a home, etc. When you catch a cold, what is your body trying to tell you? A new study came out at the Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh.  They used 153 healthy volunteers. Their sleep patterns were studied for two weeks prior to being locked into a hotel room for five days.  Then they infected each one with a cold virus. What they found is that the people who... (Read More ...)

Menopause – what is it exactly? For so many years, it has been referred to our symptoms as if menopause is a dis-ease.  It is not!  It is a natural part of life. I feel we have been conditioned to dread it and think it is going to be very unpleasant for us and everyone around us. If that is what we are expecting, then that is how it will be. Menopause is the name given to the time in a woman’s life when she stops menstruating. It is the reverse of puberty. The major physical change is that the ovaries slow down in the production of the hormones estrogen and progesterone. This means the ovaries... (Read More ...)
