How to rebuild your credit -

If you have seen your credit go down the tubes, you know how important it is to have a good credit score. In our society, it seems our credit score is who we are.

If you apply for a job, rent a house or apartment, buy a car,  it seems your credit score is checked and it has to be at a certain level before you can do any of those things.

Our credit is a number which determines just how "successful" we can be in society.  Having a poor credit score can keep us from doing and having things in life we desire.

Here are some things you can do:

1- check your credit reports and report any errors (incorrect information) you may see
2- if you have consistent income, that will help to be able to show you are stable
3- open a checking account - credit unions seem more customer oriented than large banks
4- make a household budget -those things on which you spend monthly
5-try to pay your bills on time -keep track of statements - (utilities) try to pay in full
6-apply for a credit card or small loan (watch for high interest on credit cards)
7-if you are rejected by a credit card company, find out why. Applying to too many will keep your credit score low also.
8-only charge what you can afford to pay off each month
9-the secured credit cards issued by banks sound like a good idea to get started but they don't report to the credit agencies so it isn't much help rebuilding your credit.
